Noticing a downward trend in foot traffic at traditional trade shows, Rockland is exploring new ways of getting face-to-face with global key decision makers. The conventional trade shows like Heimtextil, MoOD, High Point, HD Expo, BDNY are static events where an exhibitor rents expensive space and waits for customers to come to them.  Newer “matchmaking” events allow suppliers and customers to prearrange meetings and interact in a more focused setting. Rockland has decided not to take a booth at Heimtextil 2020 and instead explore some of these newer events.

“Made for the Shade and More”, Sewing Savvy, September 2003

Roc-lon® Roc-rol™ is a multi-purpose, 100 percent blackout cloth available in 17 face colors with a white cloth backing. It is part of the Rockland Industries Inc., TLC line, which is short for total light control. When turned into a window shade or drawn drape, it eliminates light, helps insulate against heat and cold, provides privacy and reduces noise in your environment. Some other ideas for use include using it as a floor cloth, for murals, banners, wall hangings, place mats, cloth toys and designer cloth bags. It can take the heat, so iron-on transfers, paints that require heat setting and fusible adhesives are not a problem. It also accepts fabric glues and tapes and is soft enough to hole punch and does not fray according to the manufacturer which enables you to cur designs in any shape. When painting on the cloth, it does not require any surface preparation, thus saving a great deal of cost and prep time. Because there is no show-through, you can design on both sides of a project, making it reversible. Machine Applique and embroidery also work nicely. It is suggested that a clear polyacrylic sealer protective coating be applied when Roc-rol™ is used for floor cloths. This 70 percent polyester/30 percent cotton fabric is available in 36, 48, 54, 72, and 84-inch widths. The 54-inch width retails for about $9.99 per yard and can be purchased from Dawn Company (Ed Findley) at (800) 655-3296 and Jo-Vin (Vinny Pappalardo) (800) 441-9350. For more information, comsumers can call the Roc-lon TLC division at (800) 876-2566, ext. 1323 or 1275.

“Light Control”, Escapees, July/August 2002

Combining its blackout drapery lining fabric with a patented, innovative magnetic closure, Roc-lon® TLC™ (Total Light Control) offers an energy-efficient insulating barrier, total privacy, noise reduction, as well as the darkness necessary for a good night’s sleep.
“So many people are looking for natural, healthful solutions to getting better sleep. In addition, the insulating properties against heat and cold give it added appeal. In fact, the TLC™ system helps pay for itself in energy savings,”says Darlene Sanders, product manager of the Roc-lon® TLC™ division.
Available in white or ecru poly/cotton fabric, the TLC™ blackout drapery liner is a ready-made product that is sold at select retail locations. Custom fabric is sold in some fabric stores starting at $5.99 per yard.

“Blackout Drapery Liner”, Family Motor Coaching, August 2002

Roc-lon® TLC™ (Total Light Control) blackout fabric drapery liner is said to attach to the back of an existing drapery. A hidden magnetic center closure snaps the liner shut and prevents outside light from filtering through. According to product literature, this creates a perfect sleeping environment and also makes great privacy curtains for the separation of sleeping and living areas in a motorhome. In addition, the blackout curtains insulate against heat and cold for comfort and energy conservation.
The drapery liners are available in white or ecru polyester/cotton fabric and can be used alone or attached to the back of existing window treatments. The blackout liners have loops for instant attachment over drapery hooks and can be used with any window treatment, including pinch pleat, tab-top, and pole-top draperies.
