CONSTRUCTION:

Place the cloth on a table in front of you. Cut a 3 ¼” square out of each of the 4 corners of the 10” square. Discard these small squares. FYI: all seams are exposed on the right side for this project. Fold down one side 3 ¼” toward the center. Stitch close to the fold. Repeat with the other 3 sides, making sure to fold them all to the center on the same side. Pinch the corner fabric together and stitch close to the edge. This will make your corner. Repeat with the other 3 corners.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix water based craft paint with a few drops of water. Paint all surfaces of the holder. Allow to dry. Spray with 2 coats of clear acrylic paint to seal. Allow to dry between applications.

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS – IRON-ON TRANSFER:

Print the image(s) onto the iron-on transfer following manufacturer’s instructions. Use only one sheet in the printer at a time for best results. Cut image(s) out.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS – IRON-ON TRANSFER:

Remove the paper backing from the transfer. Center the image(s) on the side(s) of the holder. Fuse the image following manufacturer’s instructions. Be sure and use the parchment paper manufacturer recommends when pressing transfer in place.

OTHER OPTIONS:

If you do not want to paint the cloth, consider decorating the holder with machine embroidery, applique or stamping a design with acrylic paint and rubber stamps!

Boxes can be made in any size. Decide on the base size and add 6 inches to both dimensions. Remember to cut out the 3 ¼” corners before you begin sewing.
