Nursery Laundry Hamper Instructions

SUPPLIES:

Roc-lon® Multi-Purpose Cloth™ – White
4 – 10”w x 24”h pieces for the sides
1 – 9 ½” square for the bottom
4 – ¼” dowels for corners – at least 24” high
Embroidery thread
Rotary cutter
Mat
Quilters ruler

CONSTRUCTION:

Use an embroidery machine to embroider the word LAUNDRY on one side piece. Using a decorative machine satin stitch, stitch across the tops of all four pieces about 1” down from the top edge. Using a ¼” seam allowance, stitch all four sides together on the long edge. Pin the bottom piece to the bottom of all of the sides, matching the corners. Stitch one bottom side to the bag, beginning and ending ¼” from the corner. Use a ¼” seam allowance. Repeat this process on the side exactly opposite of the one you just did. Stitch the third and fourth sides in the same manner. Turn right side out. To form the corner casing for the dowel rod, pinch one corner flat so that the seam is in the center of the pinched fold. On the right side of the fabric, stitch the entire length of one side seam using a 5/8”seam allowance. Repeat for the other three corners. Insert the dowel rods into the casings in each corner. You may have to trim the rods to fit exactly.
