CONSTRUCTION:
Use quilters ruler and pencil to draw tic tac toe board in the center of the game board. Make the squares 4” x 4”. Using a decorative machine satin stitch, stitch over the lines of the board being sure to backstitch at the beginning and end of each line. To make the X’s, draw a line from corner to opposite corner. Repeat to make an “X”. Using the quilters ruler, measure ½” to either side of each of these lines. You will now have a “fatter” X. Cut out 4 X’s. Round the corners of four of the squares to make the O’s. Cut out a hole in each center. Paint the X’s and O’s using acrylic paint. Allow to dry thoroughly. Apply 2 coats of clear acrylic paint, allowing paint to dry between coats. Fold ½ yard of the ribbon in half. Stitch the folded end of the ribbon to the wrong side of the center of one side of the game board. Roll board up and tie ribbon to secure. Fold one 6” side of the cloth down 1”. Press lightly. Stitch close to the raw edge of the folded end. Repeat on the other 6” side. This is the casing for the ribbon. Fold the cloth in half so that the casings are at the top of the bag. Stitch the side seam using a ¼” seam allowance, beginning just beneath the casing. Turn right side out. Insert the remaining ½ yard of ribbon through the casing. Knot ends.
